REPRESENTATION OF EMPLOYEES

of

PIEDMONT AIRLINES, INC.

Inventory Control/Auditors

 29 NMB No. 70

 CASE NO. R-6897
 (File No. CR-6758)

 DISMISSAL

 June 27, 2002

The services of the National Mediation Board (Board) were invoked by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO (IAM) on May 8, 2002, to investigate and determine who may represent for the purposes of the Railway Labor Act (RLA), as provided by Section 2, Ninth, thereof, personnel described as "Auditors," as an accretion to the craft or class of Stock Clerks, employees of Piedmont Airlines, Inc. (Piedmont).

During the investigation the IAM took the position that these employees should be included in its certification in R-6659 which covers the craft or class of Stock Clerks. Piedmont agreed, noting that the job title is "Inventory Control/Auditors."

FINDINGS

The investigation established that Inventory Control/Auditors on Piedmont share a work-related community of interest with the craft or class of Stock Clerks.

The Board finds that Inventory Control Auditors are included in the craft or class of Stock Clerks, employed by Piedmont and, therefore, are encompassed in the Board's certification in R-6659. As there is no further need for investigation or election, the IAM's application is converted to R-6897 and dismissed.

By direction of the NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD.
