In the Matter of the REPRESENTATION OF EMPLOYEES of UNITED AIRLINES, INC. Mileage Plus Employees |
28 NMB No. 42 CASE NO. R-6800 DISMISSAL- January 11, 2001 |
The services of the National Mediation Board (NMB) were invoked by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO on October 24, 2000, to investigate and determine who may represent for the purposes of the Railway Labor Act, as provided by Section 2, Ninth, thereof, personnel described as "Mileage Plus Employees," an accretion to the Passenger Service Employees, employees of United Airlines, Inc.
At the time this application was received, these employees were not represented by any organization or individual.
The Board assigned Investigator Mary L. Johnson to investigate.
Subsequently, Mr. R. Thomas Buffenbarger, International President, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO, filed a letter with the NMB which stated, "The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers hereby withdraws its accretion application for representation of the Mileage Plus employees at United Airlines, NMB Case No. 6705 submitted on October 24, 2000."
On the basis of this letter of withdrawal referred to above, File No. CR-6705 is converted to NMB Case No. R-6800 and the Board hereby dismisses the application and closed its file in this matter.
By direction of the NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD.
