 28 NMB No. 9

 CASE NO. R-6787

 (File No. CR-6694)

 DISMISSAL-WITHDRAWN
 DURING INVESTIGATION

 October 20, 2000

The services of the National Mediation Board (NMB) were invoked by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, AFL-CIO on August 18, 2000, to investigate and determine who may represent for the purposes of the Railway Labor Act, as provided by Section 2, Ninth, thereof, personnel described as "Mileage Plus Employees" an accretion to the Passenger Service Employees, employees of United Airlines, Inc.

At the time this application was received, these employees were not represented by any organization or individual.

The Board assigned Investigators Mary L. Johnson and Eileen M. Hennessey to investigate.

Subsequently, Mr. R. Thomas Buffenbarger, International President of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, filed a letter with the NMB which stated, "The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers hereby withdraws its accretion application for representation of the Mileage Plus employees at United Airlines, NMB Case No. 6694 submitted on August 18, 2000."

On the basis of this letter of withdrawal referred to above, File No. CR-6694 is converted to NMB Case No. R-6787 and the Board hereby dismisses the application and closes its file in this matter.

By direction of the NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD.
