Re:  Darr Joins NMB

Washington, D.C. — The National Mediation Board (NMB) is pleased to announce that Walter L. Darr, Jr., joined the agency on October 4, 2010, as a mediator. In this capacity, he will mediate Airline and Railroad Collective Bargaining and Grievance Mediation cases.

The National Mediation Board is an independent Federal agency established by the Railway Labor Act, which governs labor-management relations of nearly 500 railroads and 100 airlines in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii and the US territories.

Mr. Darr brings to the board over 23 years of labor relations experience, having worked in the airline industry much of that time with responsibility for negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements. Most recently, Walter worked as Principal for an independent consulting firm, with diverse engagements in industries governed by the Railway Labor Act as well as the National Relations Labor Act.

Walter is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He has completed the National Mediation Board’s training on Interest Based Bargaining and Grievance Mediation and has a certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution from the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center, University of Houston Law Center Blakely Advocacy Institute.
