Re: Midwest Express and the AFA reach Agreement

Washington, D.C. - The National Mediation Board is pleased to announce that Midwest Express and the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), working with Senior Mediator Linda Puchala and Mediator Zachery Jones, reached a tentative contract agreement on September 20, 2002, covering the craft or class of Flight Attendants. A 30-day cooling-off period mandated under the Railway Labor Act had expired on August 30; however, the agreement precluded a potential union strike or carrier lockout.

The agreement is subject to union member ratification. Specific information regarding the contract or its provisions should be obtained directly from the parties.
