NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD

RE: Air Wisconsin/ALPA Tentative Agreement

Washington, D.C. -- The National Mediation Board is pleased to announce that Air Wisconsin and its pilots, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), last night reached a tentative contract agreement. Air Wisconsin and ALPA were in a 30-day cooling off period that would have ended at 12:01 a.m., today, August 12, 2001.

The most recent round of negotiations began on Wednesday, August 8, 2001, in the Washington, D.C., offices of the NMB. After three days of negotiations, under the direction of NMB Chairman Francis Duggan, NMB Chief of Staff Stephen Crable, and mediators Richard Frey and Zachery Jones, the parties reached an agreement that will be presented to the ALPA membership within the week. The parties expect to have the results of the ratification vote by early September. Both parties have agreed to maintain the status quo pending the outcome of the ratification vote.

Questions about specific provisions of the agreement or the ratification process should be directed to the parties.
