Re: Spirit Airlines and ALPA reach Tentative Agreement

Washington, D.C. -- The National Mediation Board (NMB) is pleased to note that Spirit Airlines reached a tentative agreement on June 16, 2010, for a new collective bargaining agreement with its pilots, represented by the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA), ending a 5-day work stoppage.

The work stoppage began at 5:01 a.m. on June 12, following a release from mediation by the NMB and a 30-day cooling-off period. On the heels of intense negotiations facilitated by the National Mediation Board, the parties reached a tentative accord on Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Mediation was guided by NMB Mediator Jack Kane, Mediation Director Larry Gibbons and Board Member Linda Puchala.

Spirit Airlines is expected to resume operations today.

Questions about specific provisions of the agreement or the ratification process should be directed to the parties.
