Re: UTU and NCCC reach Tentative Agreement

Washington, D.C. -- The National Mediation Board is pleased to announce that the United Transportation Union (UTU) and the National Carriers' Conference Committee (NCCC) reached a tentative agreement on a new contact covering wages, work rules, remote control technology, and health care. The agreement, covering workers in train and engine service and yardmasters, was reached in the late evening of Friday, May 3, 2002.

Mediation was guided by NMB Board Member Maggie Jacobsen.

The UTU has approximately 135,000 members, and the NCCC represents more than 30 freight railroads.
