Re:  Retired NMB Director Has Passed Away

Washington, D.C. — The National Mediation Board (NMB) is saddened to relay the news that a retired employee of the NMB passed away on March 7, 2011. Roy J. Carvatta served in an exemplary fashion for many years as the Director of Arbitration Services up to 1996. His combined Federal Government and Military service exceeded 40 years. Roy was well respected, both as a colleague and friend.

Those who knew Roy personally remember him fondly as a person who was most congenial and well liked. He will be missed by all his NMB friends, colleagues, associated arbitrators and even general acquaintances. He seemed to know by name every person he passed on the streets of Chicago, especially the restaurant owners.

The NMB has been advised that the funeral arrangements for Roy J. Carvatta are as follows:

Visitation:  Friday, March 11, 2011 from 3-9 pm at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home located at 6150 N. Cicero Ave, Chicago, IL.

Funeral Service:  Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 12, at the Queen of All Saints Basilica.

Interment:  Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

We are sure everyone joins us in sending thoughts and prayers to the Carvatta family. Roy was especially proud of his family and grandchildren.
