January 19, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NATIONAL MEDIATION BOARD Contact: NMB Public Information Line -- (202) 692-5050 Re: the National Mediation Board goes Paperless Washington, D.C. -- During Fiscal Year 2006, the National Archives and Records Administration approved the NMB's all-electronic records schedule, giving the NMB the first completely paperless records management system in the U.S. Federal Government. In addition, in recent years the Board has created an extensive archive of public documents online. With the success and popularity of free access to the agency’s Website and Knowledge Store, the National Mediation Board has decided to discontinue its Publication Subscription program, effective today, January 19, 2007. The NMB Website (www.nmb.gov) contains an abundance of free and frequently updated information pertinent to practitioners of Labor Relations under the Railway Labor Act, which applies to both the airline and railroad transportation industries in the United States. Links are also provided on the website to the NMB Knowledge Store, which is a free, searchable online-depository of documents germane to the Railway Labor Act and the National Mediation Board. Over 90,000 documents are already available in the NMB Knowledge Store, which includes Arbitration Awards, NMB Annual Reports, PEB Reports, published NMB Representation Determinations, airline and railroad Labor Contracts, airline and railroad Union Constitutions and By-laws, and other documents of interest to the public. Both the Website and the Knowledge Store will be updated and enhanced on an on-going basis. To add [or delete] your name or others in your organization to the NMB Email List for Press Releases, send name, organization, email address, and business telephone number to PDO@NMB.GOV. |
