Open Government - Participation Training

The National Mediation Board promotes and provides training to the parties and other practitioners of airline and railroad labor relations under the Railway Labor Act. All training is provided free of charge to participants and may be conducted in a classroom setting or online. For more information, click here.
Grievance Mediation	The NMB offers a joint labor-management training program intended to help the parties resolve grievance disputes more promptly and more effectively. Facilitated Problem Solving	This type of training is designed to familiarize carrier and labor representatives with the tools and procedures of bargaining conducted in a joint problem solving environment. Call Denise Hedges at 202-692-5047 or email hedges@nmb.gov.
Pre-Bargaining Training	Pre-bargaining training is designed to help the parties develop problem-solving skills to enhance success in direct negotiations. Call Denise Hedges at 202-692-5047 or email hedges@nmb.gov.
Pre-Mediation Training	Pre-Mediation training is designed to prepare the parties to successfully transition from direct negotiations to Mediation under the Railway Labor Act. The participants explore conflict styles and techniques to overcome barriers to settlement. Call Denise Hedges at 202-692-5047 or email hedges@nmb.gov.
Specialized Training	The NMB offers specialized training targeted directly to the parties' needs in topics such as team building and contract implementation. Call Denise Hedges at 202-692-5047 or email hedges@nmb.gov.
Online Dispute Resolution	The NMB provides training and makes available to the parties a variety of online technology to assist in planning, problem solving, bargaining, online workspaces and communication. Online Video Conferencing	Free "instructor-led" training, covering the features and uses of the NMB Online Video-conferencing Center, is available online to any practitioner of airline or railroad Labor Relations under the auspices of the Railway Labor Act.
