Les A. Parmelee joined the National Mediation Board in May, 1999, as a Mediator. He is currently a Senior Mediator responsible for supervision of assigned staff mediators and the administration of mediation and ADR cases. He also serves in this capacity as a mediator in airline and railroad cases, and he conducts Interest Based Bargaining (IBB) training, facilitation, and grievance mediation. Mr. Parmelee has over 25 years of experience in the railroad industry, including work in several capacities with the American Train Dispatchers Department (ATDD). Immediately prior to joining the Board, he served as the President of ATDD. Mr. Parmelee comes from a family of railroad workers. His father and brother both worked as train dispatchers, and his great-grandfather was a locomotive engineer. He is married and has two children.
