Walter L. Darr, Jr.


Walter L. Darr, Jr. joined the National Mediation Board in October 2010 as a Mediator. He serves the board in airline and railroad cases, including Grievance Mediation cases.

Walter brings to the board over 23 years of labor relations experience, having worked in the airline industry for much of that time. Throughout his corporate career in the airline industry, Walter has held responsibility for negotiating and administering many collective bargaining agreements, including serving as bargaining team Chairman and Chief Spokesperson.

For almost 7 years, Walter worked as Principal for an independent consulting firm, with successful engagements in industries governed by the Railway Labor Act as well as the National Relations Labor Act. His consulting experience includes a diverse background providing:

Walter was a contributing author of "Options for Improving NEGOTIAIONS AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION: A Report of the Working Group on AIRLINE LABOR RELATIONS" produced by the 2004 Working Group on Airline Labor Relations in cooperation with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the MIT Global Airline Industry Study.

He is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He has completed the National Mediation Board’s training on Interest Based Bargaining and Grievance Mediation and has a certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution from the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Center, University of Houston Law Center Blakely Advocacy Institute.
