| NOTICE OF AUDIT |
|
The Office of Arbitration Services of the National Mediation Board commenced its annual audit of all outstanding cases assigned to public law boards, special boards of adjustment and the National Railroad Adjustment Board on July 28, 2006. The period for the audit had been changed to coincide with the fiscal year. Parties have been sent a computer print-out of all outstanding cases assigned to a special board of adjustment and/or public law board as of July 24, 2006, along with an instruction sheet and copies of the audit sheet. The audit sheet must be completed and returned to the Office of Arbitration Services Department by the close of business on August 30, 2006. These instructions and audit sheet are also placed on this web site for the parties' convenience. For any public law board or special board of adjustment for which no audit sheet is submitted by the carrier and the labor organization, funding for that public law board/special board of adjustment will be terminated. Due to the limited monies available for Section 3 activities, this will be strictly enforced and the public law board/special board of adjustment will not be funded in Fiscal Year 2007. The purpose of this audit is to ensure that the Board's records are accurate and to assist the Board in assuring that taxpayers' funds are being spent effectively and efficiently. Any questions concerning the print-out or the audit process should be directed to Carolyn Washington, Arbitration Administrative Assistant, at 202-692-5055 or at arb@nmb.gov. If a party desires an electronic copy of the case print-out, the party must contact Ms. Washington immediately.
